Just Karen

Daughter, mom, sister, sister-in-law, wife, ex-wife, girlfriend, employer, employee, writer, tennis player, pal, friend, camper, camp advisor, make believe therapist.  Who cares…

I am just Karen.

I always appreciated Popeye’s statement — “I am who I am.”

No apologies, no applause — Just Karen.

For the good or the bad, I never had a best friend, was never part of a clique, loved the world and always marched to my own drum.  I work hard and have passion for life.  I love to be happy and can’t imagine those who don’t love to be happy.  I don’t care what people think of me (well, except for my mother — you know the eye your mom can give you that says — fill in the blank).

I am Just Karen.

As a parent, I didn’t stick up for my kids.  I didn’t do their projects, their homework, or their research.  I stood up in PTA meetings, disagreed with most parents, and argued the kids did NOT have too much homework.  Well except that one time I bought the wood for my son’s bridge, he built the whole thing according to spec and after three days, we weighed it and it was way overweight.  Reason?  I bought the wrong wood.  My fault — totally.  So, that one time, I did re-build his bridge.

I am Just Karen.

Love to entertain, not the best cook, my kids call me the “Queen of Reheat” and I make no excuses.  Love to play, love to organize and love to motivate others to be better.  Devoted my energies to helping my kids become independent and successful members of society.  Let them fall a lot.  Right or wrong,

I am Just Karen.

Love to eat, love to drink, love to party.  Wish I was tall, wish I was thinner, wish I could select better clothing and definitely wish I would one day, finish decorating my apartment.  But there is always something else to do.

I am Just Karen.

And with that, I am so excited to be a part of Suburban Misfit Mom.  We will get to know each other, share our mistakes and successes, and learn how being just a little different actually is the greatest achievement of all.
